Questions and Answers
To anyone who owns a honda crv or similar? Pros & cons to owning one.? Looking at buying a honda crv, just wanting info from people who have owned one. Thanks for your answers so far. I guess I want to know that I'd be making a good choice in buying a honda crv, models between 2001 - 07. Fuel economy, & reliability too, is a concern.

Eric replied: "Honda has made 3 generations of CRV. Which one are you looking at and perhaps I can contribute an answer. Bottom line, they are all good. The first generation was made only in Japan, my next Honda."

Scuba Steve JW replied: "We have 2002 EX model. Is that what you are looking for? Fun to drive. Reliable. You know, all the usual Honda good stuff. Not as good with fuel economy as I would prefer but if you want AWD there isn't much else in a Honda unless you spend more for a Pilot."

mycle1000 replied: "we have an '08 with awd and it is just fine. gas mileage in the 20s and plenty roomy for 4 or 5 people. what else would you like to know? they are known for their reliability."

Honda Civic vs. Honda CRV? I am thinking about getting a new car but I dont know iif I want a small SUV or a car. I am a college student with a young daughter, shes not even one yet. Can someone tell me the pros and cons of the Honda CRV and the Honda Civic? Thanks.

CHE replied: "well the crv is great if u ever go on a roadtrip or camping, lake, hiking. it does have a good size engine 2.0 (gas saver) and crv will be eazy to get in and out of. and the civic has a 1.8vtec or 3.0 for v6 (speed)"

KDoGG replied: "What you could do is take the Civic's B16 vtec head and mount it on the CRV's B20 bottom and now you have CRVtec. It's a good setup I'm sure your daughter would appreciate."

What do you think of owning a Honda CRV? We heard it gets decent gas mileage for an SUV. It seems like a decent car & it's a Honda which has a good reputation. Just thinking about pro's & con's if it might be a car worth looking into purchasing. Thanks!

txhypnotist replied: "Anything Honda, is a good vehicle."

duane4ta replied: "I'm a bit prejudiced. I looked @ the CRV, I 'Bought' the Element. What a car....one HUGE difference, is no vertical post in your way, when you open the door. It drives like a dream, I get about 20 mpg. Best car I've ever owned! Some folks think they are ugly...it's all in the eye of the beholder....to me..he's a beaut!...SUV's are not know for their gas mileage. Check it out....."

mrhinesmith1 replied: "I WORK FOR HONDA AND MY MOM HAS HAD A 1997 AND A 2002 CRV. BOTH ARE GREAT. THEY DON'T SUCK ALOT OF GAS, THEY HAVE MORE ROOM INSIDE THAN YOU'D THINK, THEY DRIVE LIKE A TALL CAR, ARE ONE OF HONDA'S MOST RELIABLE MODELS (I KNOW. I SELL PARTS!), AND HAVE AWD FOR SNOW AND SUCH."

Deciding on a new SUV-- Nissan Murano, Honda CRV, or Jeep? I've never been a SUV person but I feel like I need a little more space in my car (compared to my little '01 Honda Civic). I'm looking at the Nissan Murano, Honda CRV, and Jeep Cherokee (my husband likes the Jeeps). I'd appreciate any advice--pros, cons, opinions! Thank you!

J.R. replied: "Three totally different vehicles, but if you've been happy with your Civic, I'd go for the CR-V, as it will have many similar characteristics. If you need a true 4x4, the Jeep wins out. I'm not a huge fan of the CVT in the Murano, but some folks like them."

Delay101 replied: "For reliability, performance and Good MPG, (Not hybrid) The Honda CRV is the best. Really..Every CRV owner i have met said nothing but positive things about their CRV. Though, you can never go wrong with a Jeep. They just decent-to-crap gas mileage. And Jeeps are kinda Expensive,But they're great too."

lildude211us replied: "Well, i saw a list on Forbes.com and it lists the Jeep Grand Cherokee as the most dirtiest vehicle (link below) and the fuel mileage is kinda poor, so i wouldnt really recommend it I've been in the older generation murano (the model before the current one) and its pretty roomy. Its also a bit more powerful than the CR-V, which is also a nice car if you dont need the murano luxury. I think both the Nissan and Honda are much more reliable and fuel efficient than the Jeep."

I am trying to decide between a Toyota Rav4 (Limited) and a Honda CRV(EXL).? I am looking at both the CRV (EXL?) and Rav4 (Limited?). Pros or cons regarding both? 2x4 vs 4x4? Get a V6(Rav4)? Do the new CRVs still have the road noise? I have also heard the Rav4 may get a rattling noise and the seats are not so great! If you own either 2007 model and have feedback, please let me know! Thanks! I am also thinking about a used 2005 Highlander now! I just test drove the Prius (Touring). I LOVE IT. The Rav4 was almost a step down and decided that I do not need a SUV as much as I thought.

Roger replied: "RAV4 is a 7 seater and CRV is a 5 seater?"

mickey3987 replied: "My sister has a 2004 toyota Rav4 and it has never gave her any problems. She drives to work everday. I personally love Honda. I have a 2006 Honda Civic EX and it has never gave me any problems!!! Honda's hold their value and so does Toyota. The CRV has a new shape."

Jeremy A replied: "V6 - Toyota gets the advantage. Reliability - Honda gets the advantage. Both are awesome little SUV's. With the 2007 redesign on the CR-V this little truck has a new sleek and sophicated style. Fit and finish are the plus to for the CR-V. The EX-L CR-V has vast imporvements in both performance and sound abaitment. Not only does the new CR-V feel more solid on the road, but road noise is nearly nill. My opinion is biased because I work for a Honda retailer in Minneapolis. For unbiased opinions check here:"

rob_brett replied: "the crv is very reliable and has a good warranty. it was also recently redesigned, which means more up to date body features, pretty safe also. a close friend has one and for this price range the interior is extremely comfortable and roomy!"

2009 Honda CRV EX or 2009 Ford Escape XLT? I am currently in the market for a new vehicle... trying to decide between the CRV or Escape... Live in Ontario... Thanks... Pros and Cons of both are greatly appreciated!!! :)

FleetTech replied: "We have an Escape all wheel drive. Wife drives it and loves it. Very good fuel mileage, very good ride and handling"

a replied: "i will go with the crv. they are both nice cars, both have awd. but the crv holds its value better than the ford and , for me at least, the crv handles better. but maybe you can get a better deals with the escape. good luck."

Does the 2007 Honda CRV have good gas mileage?? Can anyone who owns this car tell me the pros and cons? I really like this car and would like to buy it... but... I want the skinny on it from someone who actually owns it. Any help? thanks you!!

rad_court replied: "I had a 2002 Honda CRV that i just traded in, but it was AMAZING. I loved it and its gas was great. Not quite as good gas mileage as a honda Civic maybe, but still very good..."

randy k replied: "i have a Honda CR-V `03 and the gas is very good i think you should get the Honda CR-V `07"

Joe H replied: "We have a 99 CRV and it is doing a great job with mileage and basic cost of use. I would suggest you get the two wheel drive instead of the all wheel drive if you don't need the traction for driving in your area. The two wheel drive will get better mileage and of course cost less to purchase up front. If your in the "snow belt", then go for the AWD, it will likely pay for itself in safe driving with any poor road conditions."

Robert S replied: "the new CRV is beautiful. we are thinking about trading in our element next year and had initially thought about the CRV. but, with the new "city edition" Element, we may just stick with another Element because it is so fuel efficient and fun to drive. good luck!"
