2006 Pontiac Solstice parts? My friend has a Solstice and needs shocks...any good websites for parts or how to find a shop that can work on it?

Arnie replied: "I get my stuff from rockauto.com"

tpretty1975 replied: "are they looking for performance shocks the car just came out"

Attention Pontiac Mechnic's.What side behind the front bumper of a 2006 Pontiac Solstice is the location of the oil filter? left or right?

hagop93711 replied: "The oil filter is not behind the bumper it is on the drivers side of the engine block about level with the brake pedal"

2006 Pontiac Solstice a good car for me?(plz read) I am 16 and I plan on getting a sports car that won't KILL me when it comes to Gas prices.(i know the solstice is not Honda MPG but it will do) I think the solstice may be good but i don't know. I found one that cost $13,000 a few days ago do yall think the price of the solstice will continue to drop to the point where I could find one for $11,000 by March of next year? and if so will the insurance (of i am under my parents name) cost more then $200 a month?(it has like 177 HP and is not that fast so...) (oh and um...I am paying for 1/2 the month cost of every thing and my parents are paying for the other so $200 car payments and $200 insurance would'nt be a problem)

Anne G replied: "i wouldn't buy that for 11k if you want a fun car that's sporty quick and gets good mileage try a Nissan sentra SE-R Spec V you can find an 03-05 for less than 10k 175 stock HP. Just my two cents. Or if you parents would let you get a 1998 or 1999 Mitsubishi eclipse GSX or GST (GSX AWD GST FWD) they have 210 Hp stock and come with a turbo that just makes you feel cool :)"

Some Pitiful Fool replied: "If you buy the Solstice, your insurance rates will skyrocket because you are a teen driver and you will be driving a sports car--your insurance rates will most likely double (at least). Don't do it. You could probably find one for that price, but you'd better be sure that you can afford the very high insurance and $5500 for the car (if you're paying half)."

should i buy a 2006 Pontiac Solstice or 2000 Porsche Boxster? the carfax for the pontiac is the carfax fo the porsche is by the way i want it for almost daily using please let me know your opinion the carfax for the pontiac is the carfax fo the porsche is by the way i want it for almost daily using please let me know your opinion BTW, i have 19 years old, and the pontiac is 2006 and the porsche is 2000(from 10 years ago :D)

provenuts replied: "Boxster is a far better machine. I like the Pontiac but it will not hold up as well over time. Plus, the Boxster will not deppreciate much lower."

vanherrington replied: "The Solstice is not so great a car. The 2006 Pontiac Solstice is a car for teenage girls with a love of cosmetics or midlife-crisis guys happy to get a budget boy-racer image without the performance to back it up. Those wanting a real roadster experience should look elsewhere. The Boxster is great car - major fault/major advantage is that it can make you feel like you are a much better driver than you really are. The car is almost without vices - but it does go through rear tires as though they were made of butter. It's a real performance roadster. And, it just looks more cool pulling up in a Porsche than a Pontiac. Depending on the mileage, condition and previous maintenance performed - go with the Porsche all things being equal. It will keep a better resale value in the long run. The value of the Solstice will drop like a rock in years to come."

how does this sound Pontiac solstice, Toyota corolla? i will drive a 2006 pontiac solstice in the summer and a toyota corolla in the winter

i_am_bocephus replied: "Why the need for two cars? It doesn't sound very smart to have two entry level cars if you ask me. Cars are generally the second biggest investment you'll make, and the number one item for depreciation of value = MONEY LOST."

john b replied: "envy"

Adam D replied: "I would go for the Saturn Sky instead of the Solstice because the Saturn has better looks and the best car dealers on the planet, and I would go for a Subaru instead of the Corolla because they are better in the snow. Good Luck!"

DARRIN O replied: "Enjoy the Pontiac while you can in a nother 10 years or so there wont be any more Pontiac."

john l replied: "if you have a pontiac soltice, why would even want a corolla...those things suck. if you want a winter car why dont you get a suv or something. and if you can afford to drive 2 cars, why dont you just buy one nice car, like a escalade or something, instead of 2 cheap cars?"

mark replied: "sounds good... I do the same. I drive my Solstice in the Summer - And my Blazer in the Winter."

How much will a Pontiac solstice cost in the year 2009? I would like to now this about a 2006 solstice that has a good amount of miles on it and is still in good shape

blueroan2000 replied: "Who knows! Depends on the market in 09."

Autoinspector replied: "Next to nothing - in a pontiac case, prior performance is a good indication of future performance. Which has always been lousy."

twinturbo1994 replied: "Too vague to answer."

Ceri T replied: "A great load cheaper than this years model. They are desperate to sell cars now more than ever. The collapse of the US credit market will make them even more eager to sell for less as far fewer can buy. Going south will drop it traumatically. (two years or older is tariff free under NAFTA) GM is not king of the auto world anymore and want to claim their crown again. Go shopping and haggle as most dealerships are just dieing to sell them as the sales figures are way down this year, with a back log of them sitting around at the factory yards, reflecting that. Figure on what you realistically want to pay and then haggle until you get it. Look for a dealership with lots of cars on the lot. The more the cars the more urgent they need to move them. As I see your asking about a 2006 model but fail to state mileage other than high, I will attempt to give some help. A 2006 model loaded with everything with around 20,000miles or 32,000Km should not be over $16,000.00 US or CAN. If it is move on, as there are lots on Ebay and Auto Trader that that are that right now. A new one is like 43,000.00 and up. Big price drop."

Which would have higher insurance, a Mustang or a Pontiac Solstice? If I got a used 2006 Mustang GT Premium coupe would it be more or less money, insurance wise, then a 2007 Pontiac Solstice? In other words, which would have higher insurance? I said the Mustang would be a coupe, not a convertible. But it would be V8. While the Solstice only comes in Convertible. I would think that the Solstice would be higher, because of it's 'smallness'. But I am not sure. Anyone know for sure?

not guilty replied: "I think it depends if it has the V8 and whether or not it is a convertible. If it is a GT, I am guessing the insurance is higher then the solstice."

Corkey replied: "mustang"

Aran replied: "the Stang"

C7S replied: "Mustang GT easy. Much higher insurance since many more people have them and many more teenagers drive them and since it is a more powerful car. Size does not matter in insurance. It is the popularity, price, power, and features that matter."

if u aint first ur last replied: "mustang because alot of ppl crash them. my mustang that is fully paid off is more expensive that the truck that i am paying off for."

Jay P replied: "It depends on the driver's history and area. For example, if the driver has a habit of getting a lot of speeding tickets, he/she may be penalized for having a Mustang with a V8. But, if the driver lives in an area with a lot of vandalism, the Solstice may cost more because it is a convertible. By the way, the Solstice is not only a convertible any more. The Solstice targa/coupe has just been released."

Openly Straight replied: "There are so many variables.. it depends on how old you are, your record, etc.. I remember when I traded in my '91 Escort GT for an '88 Mustang GT; I was 21, and I was cringing in the insurance agent's office, bracing myself, well surprise surprise, my rates went down, not up. Because I had a clean record and the car was older. I guess they didn't care that I was going from a 4-cylinder car to a V8."

DENNIS D replied: "It looks like a non easy cracking nut, looking around here ,you may find something useful for you."

So, pontiac is gone...i've owned a solstice convertible since 2006, it's not paid for yet,? got less than 6K miles... and is in EXCELLENT condition. Your thoughts on what my thoughts might need to be regarding this vehicle??

Zeltar replied: "You have no change. You'll still pay your debt to the finance company that funded your purchase. You'll still get your warrenty work done by GM, just not at your local Pontiac dealer. Drive the car. Enjoy it just like you already do."

Should I get the Pontiac Solstice or Chrysler Crossfire? I love the look of both cars and simply can't decide. I was looking into a used base version of each one. Probably a 2006. The Crossfire would be a coupe. Which one would make a bigger impression? Which one looks better? Which one will turn more heads. Reliability and safety are similar (from my research). I thoroughly researched both but it really is coming down to looks.

Joe P replied: "I don't like looks of Solstice with the top up at all. Other than that they are pretty nice looking. Crossfire depends greatly on the color for it's looks. They maroon colored one's are nice as are black ones."

mccoyblues replied: "The Crossfire is a better looking car than the Solstice, so is the Saturn Sky which is the exact same car as the Solstice. I don't like the looks of the Pontiac at all. The Crossfire is built in Germany and is based on a Mercedes Benz SLK platform and shares many components with the Benz roadster. If you could find an SRT-6 version (with the much improved supercharged V6 engine) that car would be the one model most likely to hold it's collectible value since this car is no longer in production."

Adam replied: "If you wait for just a little longer you can get the solstice coupe. And that looks awesome. With Chrysler going under and what not the pontiac might be a little bit of a safer investment, but you're right the crossfire looks amazing. The crossfire is sure to attract more attention but if you want a good driving experience try the solstice"

peterthegreat replied: "Neither is a great car -- not really reliable. Furthermore, GM is dumping the Pontiac brand and Chrysler is in bankruptcy. How about a nice Mazda MX-5 Miata, the best selling sports roadster in the world? Much better reliability and more fun to drive."

manisusmc replied: "the Crossfire is the way to go they are way undervalued for what they are. for more information on the cCrossfire go to crossfireforum.org"
